Presently, in the Portuguese continental territory there are 29 SPA, and 2 new SPA are undergoing the classification process (“Monchique” and “Caldeirão”), and 60 SCI.

The classified areas under the Natura 2000 Network comprise a total terrestrial surface of 1.820978,19 ha, representing near 20,47% of the Portuguese continental territory.
